Position Description:
Are you interested in Volunteering? Do you like horses? We need you! -- STEP - Sunny Brooke Farm Therapeutic Equestrian Program -- offers a 3 tier therapy program to disabled persons of any age, focusing on sport & recreation riding techniques as well as other therapeutic benefits. The STEP program is open to all persons with disabilities to use by providing physically and emotionally therapeutic benefits to address various medical or physical conditions. You can volunteer for any or all of the programs listed below: Therapeutic Riding: - a one hour per week, 12 week long riding program - specialized equipment is used; a loading ramp to mount atop a horse equipped with adaptive saddles and tack - uniquely designed by an Occupational Therapist and a Canadian Equestrian Federation Coach Wrangler Work Experience: - a work experience program for teens and young adults to prepare for employment - Wranglers adhere to a work schedule, carryout job duties, prioritize their work day to meet deadlines as well as working as members of a team Equine Friends: - a hands-on opportunity for non-riders to interact with a horse-friend that they care for, groom, feed and visit each week Call Renee at 547-3486 ext 3 or Sue at 548-4017 Sunny Brook Farm 466 Transmitter Road Kenora, ON P9N 0G5 807-548-4017
